I’m never sure about the limits of self-promotion. I ask myself every time I put something on social media: Is it relevant? Will people think I’m being a show off? Does anyone (outside of my beautiful whānau and friend circles) even look at it?
Today, I decided I’ve got to go with my puku and trust that each time I put up a video (from inside my wee whare) it’s meant to happen. So this week you’ve got a reading of ‘Toetoe’. This was first published with Flash Frontier, then in my first collection ‘then the wind came’ and last year with The Best Small Fictions 2019.
Kā mihi aroha Reuben, Grace and Joe, for making space for me (after my brain injury) to stay at your flat for a few nights (when I visited Auckland) ~ it subsequently inspired this story! And thank you to the above publishers for believing in my writing.
Stay well,
Iona x
