The year of the Fire Horse has kicked itself off with several exciting things of note, my loyal readers. In other words, giddy-up, let’s go, and onwards we trot.
Tahi. One. 1. More Than This

My writerly friend Debby Curreen, has lovingly curated a remarkable anthology of creative work by the suicide bereaved, More Than This.
I’m acutely aware of how important physical copies of books are, not only for the bereaved but those supporting them.
Debby is seeking support for her Boosted campaign (link below) in order to print this collection. Please support this vital work if you can. https://www.thearts.co.nz/boosted/projects/more-than-this-anthology
Rua. Two. 2. What if the Gold needs to Stay in the Ground

Kirstie McKinnon, friend, poet, creator and stunning artist for A Counter of Moons, has curated What if the Gold needs to Stay in the Ground in Ōtepoti Dunedin. The exhibition highlights the fragility of the Dunstan Ranges, told through poetry and art.
While I’m no longer a Dunedin resident, Kirstie invited me to send a poem that I accompanied with a woven piece from my 4-shaft table loom.
If you’re in Dunedin, I’d highly recommend taking a look at the gorgeous space created (I’ve been sent some sneaky pics and it’s incredible).
Toru. Three. 3. a liminal gathering 2

My small press Elixir & Star Press reopens in April for multimedia submissions to a second grief almanac, a liminal gathering 2.
Creative work is welcome, from New Zealanders living anywhere in the world (link here). https://ionawinter.com/elixir-star-press/
My vision with ESP* is to co-create a purposeful literary community centred on personal grief expression in New Zealand. To date, I’ve been contacted by a couple of artists willing to donate and auction artworks to support this work. Community in action, for which I am deeply grateful.
