Grief and the healing powers of creativity: Interview with Helen Lehndorf

Helen Lehndorf and I recently had a slow cooked interview via the ether, and she has generously shared it on her blog this week (link below).

Once again, I am grateful, indebted, thankful, relieved (insert any other useful descriptor here) that a writerly friend hasn’t shied away from speaking about A Counter of Moons with me. I don’t have enough words to express how thankful I am, not really, because words become less important when navigating grief and suicide bereavement.

Actions become important, they create energy when words fall flat or feel patronising or like they’ve been copied from a dreadful In Sympathy card. Positive actions often enable a space to connect, with our hearts open.

As Helen mentions, we’ve only met once in person when she and Pip Adam helped launch my book Gaps in the Light in 2021. Yet sometimes, I’ve found that lasting connections are made that will span oceans, continents and dimensions (if you’re into that sort of thing – I know Reuben was). A gigantic thank you to you Helen, for staying connected xx
