Elixir & Star Press is launched today!

Introducing Elixir & Star Press ~ a small, independent publisher based in Te Wai Pounamu, created in memory of my tama Reuben Winter, and as a dedicated space to explore grief in Aotearoa New Zealand.

After researching (a lot) about grief whilst writing A Counter of Moons, I quickly noticed the dearth of resources in Aotearoa centred on the expression of grief. Most other countries have either a dedicated platform or imprint, so I’ve decided to start one here.

Our first anthology will be print-based, because it feels vital to create a physical taonga that can be shared with others during difficult times, whilst also making space to pause, read and reflect.

The inaugural Elixir & Star Press 2023 Almanac will open for submissions 20th April – 20th May 2023.

If you’re still with me, thanks for reading. Thanks too for your support of me, and Reuben, as creatives. Now it’s my turn to give back, and I hope you’ll consider joining me on this new waka (and we’re on social media too) x

What a brilliant concept and contribution to the many grieving behind closed doors, in creating this space, platform, to express grief in a creative form and share in a community.
