The Point

I walked out to the point to turn everything off

but the sea whispered to me

that it must continue

to massage the rocks below.

The dusky sky a reminder

of the one before you that striped

my face from purple to gold

it still makes me shudder.

Spring tide full moon storm clouds gather

but will not drop

their burgeoning load

choosing to pass me by.

I walked out to the point to turn everything off

but now you are in my heart

there is no quiet

and I cannot make it stop.

Bird songs mingle

my feet allow the earth

to embrace me

just for a while.

I hold the secret of you close

the thought of you

alive and unflinching

against my skin.

I walked out to the point.
